The Genocide is Not Over: Gaza Refugees Face Winter with Leaking and Damaged Tents
ASARNews, Gaza – For over a year, Zionist Israel has forced nearly the entire population of Gaza to live in refugee tents by relentlessly bombing children, women, and the elderly in their homes. The attacks have resulted in 44,235 Palestinian fatalities and 104,638 injuries from Zionist bombings.
Now, Gaza’s refugees are facing winter. Heavy rains and strong winds have flooded and damaged the tents, which are unable to withstand the harsh weather. Most of the tents occupied by Gaza residents are old and dilapidated in every aspect.
According to Al Jazeera, one Palestinian refugee, Mahmoud Al-Hawajri, shared his experience: the tents made of fabric barely provide any protection against sunlight or rain. “This place is not suitable for winter,” Mahmoud said. “These tents, made of textile fabric, hardly shield us from sunlight, let alone rain.”
ASAR Humanity has responded to the winter crisis in Gaza by sending tents to residents in Deir Al Balah, Central Gaza, on Monday (November 25). The aid is part of a public mandate to deliver assistance to the people of Gaza.
Saputra, Head of ASAR Humanity’s Islamic World Program, confirmed that the aid provided is an initial effort for Palestinians. “The two tents we delivered yesterday are just the beginning. This aid is intended to support campaigns that will bring more assistance to Palestine,” said Saputra, speaking from ASAR Humanity’s headquarters.
The tents provided are communal shelters capable of accommodating up to 100 people. Made from durable tarpaulin material and equipped with sleeping mats, these shelters aim to protect refugees from the harsh winter.
Currently, Gaza residents face extreme cold not only without proper shelter but also without basic necessities like food supplies, warm clothing, and blankets.
