Support for Underprivileged Orphans: Indonesian National Football Team Players Visit Ar-Rasyid Boarding School in Nambo
ASARRelease, Klapanunggal — Several players from the Indonesian national football team visited Ar-Rasyid Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Ar-Rasyid), which provides free education for orphans and underprivileged children. The boarding school is located in Nambo Village, Klapanunggal District, Bogor Regency.
Previously, ASAR Humanity, in its commitment to supporting the education of orphans, had delivered infrastructure aid in the form of a dormitory for the boarding school. This aid was made possible through a collaboration between the Internationale Humanitaire Hulporganisatie Nederland (IHH NL) and For Tomorrow Foundation, both non-profit organizations based in the Netherlands.
During this visit, ASAR Humanity facilitated the Indonesian U-20 national football team players' visit to the Ar-Rasyid boarding school to meet the orphans and see the newly constructed dormitory firsthand. The children at Ar-Rasyid are highly enthusiastic about football, which encouraged the U-20 national team players to visit and offer their support to the orphans. Among the players visiting the boarding school were Jens Raven, Meshaal Hamzah, Mathew Baker, Timothy Baker, and Ousmane Camara on Sunday (12/01).
The orphans at Ar-Rasyid warmly welcomed the national team stars. Various activities were held with the players, including introducing them to the boarding school environment, having a friendly gathering with the school management and ASAR Humanity, presenting signed national team jerseys to the orphans, and playing football together. The players also made a video call to Coach Indra Sjafri to allow him to offer his support to the orphans.
Jens Raven, one of the key forwards of the Indonesian national team, expressed his joy during the visit. He shared several Instagram stories, one of which read, "Loved every second here." Other national team players also captured and shared memorable moments from the visit on their personal Instagram accounts.
Before the completion of the dormitory at Ar-Rasyid boarding school, the school lacked adequate facilities to support the education of orphans. The school also faced difficulties in providing clean water and food for the students, as it could not charge fees to the students and had no permanent donors to support its operations.
