After Whirlwind Hits Klaten, ASAR Humanity Distributes Food Aid

ASARNews, Klaten – Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit Tambongwetan Village, Klaten, Central Java, damaging several roofs of houses and schools.

According to Media Harian Detik, in the aftermath of the tornado, the Quick Response Team (TRC) from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), assisted by personnel from the military (TNI), police (Polri), and volunteers, evacuated trees that had fallen on houses and cleared scattered roof tiles.

Tambongwetan Village Head, Yuliarti, reported that a total of 350 houses were damaged, with 50 of them severely affected due to fallen trees. “For those with severe damage, the fallen trees need to be evacuated first by the volunteers. As for the others, their tiles and metal roofs were blown away,” Yuliarti explained.

In response to the disaster, ASAR Humanity Jogja delivered aid to the affected residents and conducted further assessments. The aid, distributed on Thursday (November 21), included 8 boxes of food packages containing essential items.

“At night, many residents are sleeping in their yards because their damaged homes are not yet livable,” said Revangga, a member of the ASAR Humanity team, during the aid distribution report.

Revangga added that residents are hoping for assistance to repair their roofs so they can return to sleeping in their homes as before.
